Damned
Gigs
1995 could have been busier, but things were beginning to fall apart
by this time. Alan Lee Shaw got his marching orders following the
Powerhouse gig in January, which was dedicated to Peter Cook, who had
died a few days earlier. The Powerhouse closed as well. Dave Grunfeld joined on the Hammond for the
remainder of the year, such as it is. The tour of council run venues was
fantastic, and sold out at most venues, although there were a couple of
cancellations. After the tour finished, I moved
out of London and things went very quiet. Dolli was off with Adam Ant so
we couldn't gig. A return to The Forum did well, but the Cooperage was
just a pub venue, which was supposed to be part of a tour of boozers
with stages. Unfortunately, all the other shows booked for this tour
were cancelled, which makes the one gig look decidedly odd. After that it all fell
apart, and although we didn't know it at the time, The Cooperage was to
be our last hurrah. It was a disappointing end to a good three years,
even if they were hit and miss at times. |

So, that was that,
eighty-odd gigs of chaos and destruction, and whether some consider it
to be The Damned or not, it certainly felt like it to me. |
