Fender Precision
The workhorse of the basses I own, this one came from Fender at cost
price. I gig this one because I don't want to damage the vintage one. 1959
USA
Fender Precision
I bought this out of Loot during the making of Thunder and Consolation.
The guy who owned it had no idea what it was worth. It's been partly
restored, but plays better than any other bass ever. I also have a
custom built fretless, and I've just bought a five-string. Fender F-35 acoustic
A lovely bit of
wood. I fitted a pair of Shadow pick-ups to it, one in the sound hole and another
under the bridge. There's a pick-up selector from
a Gibson Les Paul which allows a better blend of sounds from the two
pick-ups. 1988
Japanese Fender Stratocaster
My first ever electric was a 1980
Telecaster. Some french (deliberate lower case) bastard stole it out of the tour bus in
Paris in 1985.
The Strat was bought to replace it and has a Kahler locking whammy block. I recently
rebuilt it, stucking a humbucker and a hot rail on it, both by Seymour
Duncan, to beef it up a bit. 2002
Fender Standard Telecaster
The current Fender Standard Series are good guitars, and I missed owning
a Tele, so I bought this as a contrast to the Strat. Fender
Telecoustic
The electro-acoustic version
of the Telecaster. It has a Tele neck with the normal wooden acoustic
soundboard 'crafted' onto a slightly round backed fibre-glass body. It's
not great as a plain acoustic, but plugged in, its bloody marvellous.
I
use a mix of valve and solid state practice amps; a Fender Champ 12
for Twin-style sounds, and a pair of Hiwatts, the Spitfire
and the Maxwatt 30, both of which kick out lots of Hiwatt noise
in minature.
There's also a Hammond T-202 Organ
with a built in Leslie Cabinet kicking around the place. |
