Recorded Work - Others

There's a bit about Monty, and how I became involved in his strange career, in the discography. The very serious looking fellow on the far right is Ian King, a former Yorkshire coal worker who moved to London to become a singer/songwriter. When I knew him, Ian had long hair and bad management. He was a cracking fellow, taken under the wing of former Blue Zoo member Dave Woolfson, who offered him board, lodgings and career guidance. I became involved somehow, and soon realised that Dave's road was paved with good intentions, but no action. The band were called Blueyes, because according to Dave, "...it's very Nineties". It wasn't, it was very, very Eighties. I did some gigs and some eight track demos with the band, a three-piece which featured former Blue Zoo drummer Mick Sparrow, who used to play standing up, with his cock out on the snare drum. It was fun, but I had to earn a living, so couldn't spend every night rehearsing and recording in a posh four-storey house on Parliament Hill, unfortunately. We parted company, and they changed the name to Hair, which was worse. Ian has now flown the coop, and is doing okay on the club circuit. I wish him well, as he was a charismatic and talented front man who could write a good song.

These are off of a cassette I found in the loft. The quality is proportionately terrible. I've since acquired a copy of the album, and will update these accordingly.

Blueyes

Blue yes? Blu Eyes? Who knows. These are very loose demos done on an eight track. They're quite funny, but were better live, especially Fun, which degenerated into a sort of acapella schoolboy choir thing between me and Mick.

Finally, there's this, which I did shortly after Robert died, for inclusion on a New Model Army covers album called Toasting Cain. It's a piano version of The Hunt, from The Ghost of Cain, with some old drum takes of Robert that I sampled into the track.
