Recorded Work - Ska Trouble

Ska Trouble were an eight-piece band that I became involved with somewhat by accident. As Dan Tozer reached 40, a surprise party was arranged for him, featuring a knock-together ska band with a rolling line up of players assembled for the occasion. I had a bash on a couple of songs without rehearsing and it was fairly easy to do. Dan drummed for a while, but abandoned ship halfway through the night when he got too drunk. The band carried on with a more regular line-up after the gig, but somewhere along the way the original bass player, some of the horn section and the keyboard player got booted out. I was asked to fill in at short notice, and stayed on for a short while, then remembered that Pants, who hadn't played in three years, was more fun to do. Dan and I split from the rest and went back to doing Pants, taking Olly with us. Anyway, it was always too hard to organise eight people for rehearsals and gigs, and the distribution of the money was crap. Before the split, we recorded three songs as a means to get more gigs. We were going to do more, but the next recording session fell to bits, so we never finished it. Steve Marshall did some dub mixes for a laugh when he was a bit caned.

An instrumental we used to play. If there was no horn section around for rehearsal, which was normal, Olly and I would shout the horn parts at each other.   A little number made famous by Madness. This isn't a bad version, but I replaced the guitar on it because the original sounded crap.   Them rude boys bum up the town...apparently. Same story on the guitar, I added an extra one to cover the sound of the first.
